RemoteAccess 0.03 release notes
-------------------------------
This release contains many enhancements in addition to several bug fixes;
full details of the changes are in the WHATSNEW.003 document. Make sure you
read it and understand what the implications for your particular system are.
There are no structure changes for this release, however make sure you run
RACONFIG before you fire up the main program - if it detects a pre-0.03
configuration it will clear some previously unused fields that have been
implemented in this release.
Make sure you also run RANODE, the nodelist handling has been much improved
and RA 0.03 won't work with nodelist indexes compiled with 0.02.
Upgrade (from 0.02) procedure:
1. Replace all your old 0.02 executables with the ones in this archive
2. Execute RACONFIG and exit immediately
3. Execute RANODE with the new command-line parameters
(see WHATSNEW.003 for details)
4. Copy PAGE.RA to your system directory
5. Read the docs! They've been updated significantly, and contain
full details on all the new features.
The key system:
---------------
This release is the first to implement the key system, designed to reward
sysops who take the time to register with us. There's a section in the docs
that explains how it works in detail. When you do register, PLEASE read
and follow the instructions in the manual in the section called
"HOW TO REGISTER".
If you're already registered...
-------------------------------
... you should have your key already. If you haven't it's because we were
unable to contact you via netmail. If that's the case, to obtain your key
you should follow this procedure:
1. Cut out the registration form in the manual and send
it to the registration point you originally registered
at (no need to send it snailmail - a copy enclosed in
a netmail message is fine). Make sure you indicate that
you're already registered.
2. Wait. This information will be used to generate your registration
key, which will be sent out to you as soon as possible.
We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused; there may be a small
delay while we process the backlog of registrations, but you'll be given top
priority.
Andrew Milner and Phil Mackay.
